LAHORE: Pakistan Customs Land Freight Unit Wahga Lahore has collected Rs 565 million as income tax, sales tax and income tax during December 2014.

The LFU collected the taxes only on the trade between Pakistan and India via Wahga border as it is only land route for trade between both countries. Vegetables, fruits, cement, machinery, cotton, glass, gypsum, oil seeds and polyethylene were traded between both countries.

As per details, the LFU collected almost Rs 192 million duty tax that was almost Rs 80 million more than the collection of November 2014. The LFU collected Rs 111 million duty tax during November.

Similarly, the LFU collected Rs 146 million sales tax during December, while it collected Rs 73 million during November that was almost Rs 73 million less than the sales tax of December. The customs collected Rs 6 million additional sales tax which was Rs 2 million more than the November collection.

The Pakistan Customs LFU Wahga generated Rs 182 million income tax during November while it collected almost Rs 220 million income tax during December.

Rs 78 million duty tax and Rs 82 million sales tax was collected on the import of soya bean.

Sources said that the tax generation was dependent on the import-export activities between both countries. They said the tense relations between neighbouring countries also affected the trade. They hoped that the Lahore Model Customs Collectorate would attain its target of revenue collection for the fiscal year 2014-15.
