750-bed institute on 50 acres: Shehbaz orders timely completion of Kidney, Liver Institute

LAHORE: A state-of-the-art Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre of South Asia will be constructed at Knowledge Park, Lahore, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

He said this while addressing a meeting held here the other day to discuss in detail the project of setting up of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre.

President Board of Governors of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Dr Saeed Akhtar gave a briefing regarding progress on the project. Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Parliamentary Secretary Health Khawaja Imran Nazeer, MPA Dr Nadia Aziz, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretaries of Health, Finance, Higher Education Departments, DCO Lahore, President Board of Governors of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Dr Saeed Akhtar and other members attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister said this project would prove to be a milestone in public health sector and latest treatment facilities would be available to the kidney and liver patients under one roof. He also said this 750-bed institute will be constructed at 50 acres. “Quality medical facilities will be available in this institute of international standard. Professional staff will be recruited for this institute, which will be provided training abroad. Best liver transplant centre of the world will be constructed in the institute,” he added.
