KARACHI: The Collectorate of Enforcement-South will monitor all the collectorates concerned, including MCC Preventive- Karachi, MCC Gwadar, MCC Hyderabad and MCC Quetta, in order to evaluate their biannual performance and the steps taken by them to curb smuggling.
Chief Collector Enforcement-South Muhammad Nazim Saleem told Customs Today that FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa and Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Ali Khan have given clear directives to all the collectorates to eliminate smuggling activities from the country. “FBR Chief Tariq Bajwa laid special emphasis on gearing up the anti-smuggling activities and asked the officers of the relevant collectorates to evolve an effective strategy in connection with eliminating smuggling activities”, the chief collector added.
To a query, Muhammad Nazim Saleem said that all relevant collectorate in South Region are determined to follow the directives of FBR chief in order to eliminate smuggling activities. He made it clear that the Pakistan Customs has determined to put extra efforts in order to uproot smuggling activities in the country, particularly in the South Region.
Chief Collector has already directed the authorities concerned of all the respective Collectorates to submit performance report regarding anti-smuggling activities by 20 Jan-2015 in reaction of Chairman FBR meetings on 21-October-2014 and 26 November-2014 respectively.
It may be worth mentioning that the Collectorate of Enforcement-South Region, particularly the MCC Preventive has a challenge in its forefront in connection with the “artificial shortage” of petrol, as the sale of Irani petrol may be increased with the shortage of petrol.
