Malaysia customs seizes RM80,000 illicit cigarettes

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia customs seized RM80,000 illicit cigarettes of various brands.

The Magistrate Court pleaded Abdullah Jaafar guilty to the charge of possessing 2,412 packets illicit cigarettes at his shop at Taman Pertiwi, Seriab.

Magistrate Nor Hayati Ibrahim also ordered the accused to serve 24 months of jail term if he failed to settle the fine. The prosecution was conducted by Customs Department prosecution officer Abdul Malik Awang Kechik @Ramli while the accused was represented by Nor Herdawati Harun.
