Customs Recovery Cell issues notice to Crown Steel for payment of Rs 0.8m

KARACHI: The Special Recovery Cell (SRC) of Model Customs Collectorate MCC of Exports, in its recent move, has issued recovery notice against Crown Steel. According to details, the Assistant Collector Dr Jam Muhammad Imran on the directives of Collector MCC Exports Manzoor Memon has issued recovery notice against Crown Steel in order to recover government dues amounting to Rs 865741 along with penalty of Rs 300000 adjudged vide Order-in-Original against Crown Steel.

In the notice, it was stated by the concerned authorities that an amount of government dues of Rs 0.8 million approximately along with penalty of Rs 300000 with levy surcharge has been standing against the importer Crown Steel in the recovery proceedings under Section 202 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with the Recovery Rules, 2001.

The notice further stated that the authorities concerned of MCC Exports have finally directed to pay the aforesaid defaulting amount within seven days from the receipt of this notice positively to avoid further proceedings against the importer.

Sources told that the recent strategy of the authorities concerned of the MCC Exports, particularly the Collector Manzoor Hussain Memon has pleased the high-ups of Federal Board of Revenue. They added that the FBR authorities concerned are determined to continue the crackdown against the defaulters in order to recover the evaded revenue and the issuance of more recovery notices by the authorities concerned of MCC Exports against the defaulters is likely in upcoming days.
