ISLAMABAD – For the consumers of K-Electric of Karachi, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has notified Rs 1.73 per unit decrease in the power tariff,
On the condition of anonymity, an official said, “Rs 2 billion reduction in the fuel cost for power generation was recorded in November.” He added that NEPRA has issue a notification of decrease after holding a public hearing on January 6, 2015 to give approval on the request of K-Electric. The officials also said that domestic lifeline consumers, who use 50 units in a month, will not be get benefit from this decrease in power price.
Nepra also directed the private power company to provide relief to its consumers in the monthly electricity bills by making adjustment. The citizens of Karachi would now get a relief in monthly electricity bills of March. The regulatory authority has approved and notified decrease in power prices under the head fuel price adjustment for the month of November 2014.
K-Electric had earlier sought from Nepra decrease in power price on account of fuel price adjustment. Nepra officials said that K-Electric had sold one billion, 21 crore and 69 lac unit of power to its consumers in November, adding that the fuel cost on power generation was registered low.
