TDAP launches ‘GSP Plus Guide’ to facilitate exporters

KARACHI: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has launched a book “GSP Plus Guide” in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce in a seminar on the GSP Plus status.

Federal Minster for Commerce Khurram Dastagir Khan, Ambassador of Europe Union H.E. Lars Gunner Wigemark, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Barrister Zafarullah Khan, Chief Executive TDAP SM Muneer and Secretary TDAP Rabiya Javeri Agha attended the seminar and the book launching ceremony.

Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan said Pakistan’s exports to EU have increased by more than US $ 1 billion during the period January-October, 2014 as compared to the same period in the previous year. There has been phenomenal growth in exports of textiles, leather, footwear and plastic products. Pakistan’s total exports to EU had increased by 20% rising from US$ 5.3 billion during the first ten months of 2013 to US$ 6.38 billion during the same time period in 2014. He said that the purpose of book was to facilitate exports and to educate the new comers about the requirements of a very lucrative market. He added ,“But it needs to be understood that for though the opportunities are many the standards for quality are also very high.”
