AB BBIA earns 43.15% duties & taxes during 16 days of present month

ISLAMABAD: The customs staff of the Accompanied Baggage (AB) of Benazir Bhutto International (BBI) Airport Islamabad received Rs1.12million of duties and taxes on accompanied goods during initial 16 days of September Financial Year (FY) 2017-18.

According to details explained by sources of the BBIA Islamabad that, during above said period, the AB earned 43.15% of revenue against the allocated monthly revenue target. The AB was assigned Rs2.60million of duties and taxes on accompanied goods while AB’s earmarked proportional target for initial 16 days of September FY17-18 was Rs1.39million.
Sources told CT that, during the month of August FY17-18, the AB generated Rs4.19million as duties and taxes on luggage whereas the AB seized foreign currencies of $40,000, 50,100 PKR and 67,000 Chinese Yens. The total value of the seized foreign currencies is rupees Rs4.39million.
During the month of August FY17-18, the AB also confiscated 120 smuggling mobile phones worth Rs1.4million while the customs staff of the AB impounded 209 bottles of liquor valued at Rs0.418.
