KARACHI: Chairman, Association of Builders and Developers Pakistan (ABAD) Junaid Ashraf Taloo and other leaders of the association have expressed their serious concern over the ban on new water connections for residential projects by Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).

In a statement here on Saturday, ABAD’s Chairman, Vice Chairman Muhammad Hanif Memon, Chairman ABAD’s Southern Region Muhammad Hassan Bakshi described the ban as ‘unjustified’ and that it will bring negative impact on construction industry and its allied industries.

Junaid Ashraf Taloo said water is the basic necessity of life and its supply in required quantity is the responsibility of the government.

ABAD Members always get their water connection sanctioned and pay the dues without any delay.

He appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Minister for Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon to intervene and order removal of the ban on sanctioning of new water connections for residential projects.

He maintained that many residential projects will be delayed and the builders will be unable to handover the possession to the allottees in time due to non provision of water supply connections.  The ban, he feared, will encourage corruption in KWSB.

ABAD’s Chairman (Southern Region) Muhammad Hassan Bakshi argued that as result of the ban , the water tankers’ mafia will take undue benefit.

He urged KWSB management to remove the ban in the interest of the public, the construction industry and the country.
