ABIC-Nepal interacts with commercial farmers

KATHMANDU: The newly established Agribusiness Innovation Centre Nepal (ABIC-Nepal) on Thursday held interactions with commercial farmers from various parts of the nation.

As many as 47 farmers who have been implementing various agricultural projects with the grant of the Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT) being run by the Ministry of Agricultural Development had participated in the programme held at the Kathmandu University School of Management in Lalitpur. The Practical Action UK’s Consulting Consortium had organised the function to inform the farmers about incubation services to be provided by the ABIC-Nepal.

During the programme, the participating farmers had asked various questions about their farming activities to the experts and the experts had provided counselling. The problems had covered a wide range of issues including marketing, finance management, supply chain, quality, branding and use of technologies, according to a statement issued by PACT on Friday.

The ABIC is scheduled to formally launch its services on April 11. The Thursday event was a part of preparations for the full-fledged service delivery, according to the organisers.
