About 12,500 meter of NDP cloth seized by Customs Preventive Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad, Customs Preventive took into possession foreign origin 12,500 meter of smuggling non-duty-paid cloths. The market value of the item is Rs1.3million involving duties and taxes of Rs394646 during an action at Hala Naka Hyderabad during two days ago.

Following the direction of Model Customs Collectorate Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, the ASO team is conducting various operations in the region in order to foil the smuggling attempts, officials said.

Sources told Customs Today that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad received a tip-off regarding some smuggling attempts. The ASO authorities constituted a raiding team, consisting of In-charge ASO Superintendent Sikander Akbar Panhwar, Inspectors Iqbal Mughal, Abdul Majeed Barich, Abid Ali Khan, Sepoys Ghulam Sarwar, Hawaldar M Aslam, Driver Mukhtiar and other staff, which took part in the operation.

The party intercepted a truck bearing registration No: TLV-565 near Hala Naka Hyderabad and recovered the said cloths.

The raiding team asked the driver to produce the legal documents of the import of above said cloths, but he failed to do so. So the cloths were taken into possession.

A case was registered and an investigation was also started.

Officials said all possible measures will be taken to prevent the smugglings in the region as vigilance has also been enhanced.
