The sources informed Customs Today that, under Section 144 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, those nationals who have got NTN will be bound to file the income tax details.

The total number of registered taxpayers with the FBR Peshawar is 3.75 million up to date in which an increase of 15 percent has been noted.

The sources further informed CT that the FBR Peshawar wants to achieve the target of revenue collection of income tax and also wants to introduce the tax revenue procedure to the people for which the audit will be carried out.

The FBR Peshawar earlier issued notices to the taxpayers to register them with the NTN service in order to get the NTN number on the basis of which all the details of tax payment have been kept confidential.

The FBR Peshawar sources further said that further steps will be taken soon to introduce the relaxing policies for the taxpayers.
