LAHORE: Customs officials confiscated about 206 alcohol bottles from the passengers travelling via different flights during raids on Allama Iqbal International Airport in the month of May.
Sources told Customs Today that the officers conducted operations in different flights coming from London to Lahore, Frankfurt to Lahore, Abu Dhabi to Lahore, Muscat to Lahore, Dubai to Lahore, Turkey to Lahore, Jeddah to Lahore and China to Lahore.
Customs took actions in Pakistan International Airlines flights, Turkish Airways flight, Gulf Air and Saudi Air flight. Customs allowed all the passengers to go after confiscation of alcohol bottles from their possession.
Customs has also confiscated LEDs of different sizes from passengers. Cell phones, wireless sets and mobile accessories were also recovered from the Lahore airport. Customs officials also confiscated spare parts of vehicles from passengers coming from Europe and huge quantity of garments from a flight coming from China to Lahore.
Customs team confiscated three bags of betel as well. Sources said the worth of the recovered items is more than one million. The security officers have launched an investigation into the matter. The worth of the recovered alcohol is over Rs760000.
