About 300 cartons of Iran made smuggling chocolates taken into possession

HYDERABAD: The Collectorate of the MCC Hyderabad, Customs Preventive Sukkur, has seized the smuggling Non-Duty-Paid 300 cartons of Spark coconut chocolates (made in Iran) valued at Rs1.3million including duties and taxes during an action at a check-post of Dera More.

Model Customs Collectorate Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq received a tip-off regarding the transportation of contraband item. He constituted a team of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Preventive, to arrest the smuggling.

The team, under the supervision of Customs Preventive Additional Collector Aamer Nawaz Hamid comprising of In-charge check-post Inspector Zulfiqar Jamali and other Inspectors, Sepoys and Driver, took part in the action.

The team intercepted a vehicle near the chek-post of Dera More and recovered the abovementioned Spark coconut chocolates. The item was being smuggled into Pakistan. The value of the confiscated item is Rs720000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs499680.

The ASO lodged separate cases of smuggling against the accused and forwarded them to the customs adjudication. After a seizure report, the ASO team deposited the impounded item into the Sukkur State Warehouse.

Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq said our team is showing extraordinary performance in thwarting the smuggling bids in the region.
