About 32,232 metric tons raw cotton worth $53.292m exported in six-month

ISLAMABAD: About 32,232 metric tons of raw cotton worth US$ 53.292 million exported during the first half of current financial year as compared the exports of 20,913 metric tons valuing US$ 35.888 million of the corresponding period of last year.

The exports of raw cotton from the country during the period under review grew by 48.50 percent as against the exports of the same period last year, according the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

During the period from July-December, 2017-18, cotton yarn worth US$ 661.232 million exported as compared the US$ 657.188 million of same period last year, hence showing an increase of 0.62 percent.

In last six-month 255,870 metric tons of cotton yarn exported as against the exports of 230,915 metric tons of corresponding period of last year.

However, during the period under review the local exports of cotton cloth decreased by 0.01 percent and was recorded at 938,865 thousand square meters against 1,006,898 thousand square meters of same period last year.

During the period from July-December, 2017-18, the exports of ready made garments grew by 13.52 percent and garments worth US$ 1.248 billion exported as compared to the exports of US$ 1.100 billion of same period last year.

During the period under review, 18,403 thousand dozen of ready made garments exported as compared to the exports of 16,589 thousand dozen of same period last year.

In first half, country earned US$ 381.232 million by exporting about 92,172 metric tons of towels as against the exports of US$ 379.981 billion and 39,766 metric tons of same period last year.

It is worth mentioning here that over all, textile group exports grew by 8.7 percent and textile products worth US$ 6.624 billion exported as compared the exports of US$ 6.146 billion of same period last year.
