About 400 smuggled crates of Rani Juice & NDP tyres seized by Hyderabad ASO

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Hyderabad has confiscated foreign origin non-duty-paid 400 smuggled crates of Rani Juice and foreign origin non-duty-paid 42 Nos of tyres worth Rs748584 involving duty and taxes of Rs438979 during an action near Hyderabad Bypass during the month of June 2017.

Smuggled items were being transported from Iran into Pakistan.

Following strict instruction by Hyderabad Customs Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, ASO team conducted various anti-smuggling activities to protect the national exchequer.

The team, headed by Additional Collector Customs Hyderabad Rehmatulah Vistro, constituted a raiding party, comprising Superintendent Ghulam Shabbir Phulpoto, Inspectors Mirza Asad Uddin, Iqbal Mughal, Imdad Abro, Abid Khan, Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys Nenomal, Luqman, Abdul Razaq, Saddiq Khaskheli, Sarwar Ayoub, Drivers Sher Akbar, Ajaz Saddam, Jawaid Mashkoor and Nisar Ahemdani, which took part in the action.

The team intercepted a vehicle with registration No: TLU-184 near Hyderabad Bypass and recovered above said crates of Rani juice and foreign origin non-duty-paid tyres valued Rs748584 involving duty and taxes of Rs438979.

Prior to the recovery, officials asked the driver to produce any legal document about the possession of the items but he was unable to produce anything legal so the consignments were confiscated.

A case was registered and an investigation was also started.
