About 405,287-tonne ghee, 123,281-tonne oil produced in 4 months

ISLAMABAD: Domestic production of vegetable ghee and cooking oil during the first four months of current financial year were recorded at 405,287 tonnes and 123,282 tonnes respectively as compared the production of corresponding period of last year.

During the period from July-October, 2016, the production of above mentions commodities witnessed slight decreased of 1.37 percent and 2.66 percent respectively, according the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The domestic production of vegetable ghee was recorded at 410,914 tonnes, where as about 126,651 tonnes of cooking oil produced in order to tackle with the domestic consumptions as well as for exporting.

On month on month basis, about 102,658 tonnes of vegetable ghee produced in month of October, 2016 as compared to 105,640 tonnes of same month of last year.

Meanwhile, cooking oil production during the period under review was recorded at 30,992 tonnes as compared to the production of 35,881 tonnes of same month of last year.

In last four months, country produced about 47,543 tonnes of blended tea of, which was recorded at 43,740 tonnes during same period of last year, showing an increase of 8.69 percent. During the month of October, 2016, about 12,207 tonnes of blended tea produced as compared to the production of 12,271 tonnes of same month last year.

During first four months of preceding year, about 1.830 million tonnes of wheat and grained were milled as compared to 1.921 million tonnes of same period of last year.

During the period under review, production of juices, syrups and squashes witnessed 19.06 percent increase as compared to same period of last year.
