About 70 smuggled LED TVs valued Rs800000 seized by Hyderabad Customs

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated 70 pieces of foreign origin non-duty-paid LED televisions worth Rs800000 involving duty/taxes of Rs189820. The smuggled item was being transported from Karachi to Mirpur Khas.

Following the guidelines of Director Karachi Customs Intelligence Tahir Qureshi, the Field Investigation Unit is taking stern action against the smugglers in the region. Focusing on the instructions, all measures are being taken to save the national economy from trafficking.

The Field Investigation Unit Hyderabad intercepted a vehicle near bypass Hyderabad and recovered the said contraband item.

The FIU team, comprising Deputy Director Waqar Haroon Malik, Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Intelligence officers Irfan Ghani, Noor Muhammad Shah and Sepoys Gayas Ahmad, Muhammad Imran, Azam Ali Chandio , Aslam Chohan, Noshad Khan, Rao Abdul Sattar, Driver Hanif Soomro and Janib curb, participated in the action. The team asked the driver to produce the documents regarding the legal import of the goods. But the driver failed to produce any such documents so customs officials impounded the goods under the prevailing customs bylaws.
