ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance, in its 36th meeting, has decided to delay discussion on ‘Benami Bill’ due to the absence of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Khan, who are in Dubai to discuss IMF’s next tranche.
The NA body met under the Chairmanship of Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh to discuss Benami Transaction (Prohibition) Act, 2016 (Government Bill).
During the meeting PPP’s Syed Naveed Qamar said that the Bill should be passed in the absence of Finance Minister, Secretary Ministry of Finance and FBR chairman and recommended to defer the discussion on the Bill till next meeting, which was endorsed by Committee Chairman Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh.
About the Bill, Chief Income Tax Policy Vishno Alias Raja Qavi informed the committee that the Bill has been discussed several times and now it needs to be approved by the body.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Rana Shamim Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, Sardar Muhammad Jaffar khan Leghari, Fatima Khawaja and Syed Naveed Qamar.
