Abu Dhabi non-oil foreign trade hits $46 bln

ABU DHABI: The non-oil foreign trade volume through various customs ports in Abu Dhabi last year hit Dh169.11 billion ($46.04 billion), a 11 per cent increase as compared to the total volume in 2014.

The volume of imports through various customs ports in the emirate was worth Dh119.34 billion, representing an 10.5 per cent increase, according to the General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi.

The volume of non-oil exports in Abu Dhabi was worth Dh30.83 billion during 2015, a 63 per cent increase, it said. Meanwhile, the re-exports volume amounted to Dh18.93 billion, a decrease of 25.3 per cent compared to the previous year.

Mohammed Khadem Al Hameli, acting director general of the General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi, said: “The General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi adopts a well-established strategy to develop customs policies and to raise the efficiency of customs operations. This is in line with the administration’s role in supporting the national economy and ensuring the security and protection of our community.

“All land, sea and air customs ports in the Emirate have contributed to the increased non-oil foreign trade in Abu Dhabi with the adoption of modern customs facilities and infrastructure, best international customs standards and the presence of field and administrative customs officials trained according to the highest technical and academic levels.”
