Accountability Court adjourns hearing of case filed against Zardari, Faryal till May 21

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the fake accounts case against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur till May 21.

As the hearing resumed, Judge Arshad Malik remarked that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has failed to provide the copies of reference to the suspects.

“How will they even run the trial if the copies of reference are not being given to them,” the judge remarked.

Further, Zardari was also set to appear before NAB earlier in the day, however, his summons was postponed upon his request.

As per media reports, the monetary watchdog has prepared another reference against the former president and summoned him in the Rawalpindi office for questioning. “Zardari has been summoned in Harish and Company case,” the reports stated.

The said company had taken a contract from Special Initiative Department of Sindh for a water supply project but no work has been done on it. It is also alleged that the funds for the project were used to meet the expense of Naudero House.

NAB officials have claimed that Harish and Company was the front company of Park Lane Estate which caused Rs60million loss to the national exchequer.

Both Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur are accused in the fake accounts case have been granted bail till May 9.
