ACE arrests 240 accused including proclaimed offenders in 2015

SIALKOT: Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested 240 accused including 14 proclaimed offenders (POs) wanted by the ACE in different corruption, fraud, misuse of official powers and financial embezzlements during the year 2015 till now.

Director ACE Gujranwala region Rana Abdul Shakur told that the ACE received 2479 applications from the people against the government departments’ officials in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts, out of which 1330 applications were declared valid for hearing and ACE conducted inquiries on these 1330 applications against the corrupt officials belonging to different government departments there.

Director ACE Rana Abdul Shakur added that the ACE registered 217 separate cases against the corrupt officials after conducting inquiries against them.

He revealed that the ACE teams led by the special judicial magistrates raided at various places/ offices on the complaints about taking bribery and ACE teams caught red handed 42 government officials belonging to different departments in Gujranwala Division while taking bribe from the people.

ACE also recovered Rs.3.3 million in cash (the currency notes marked by the ACE teams and taken by these accused government officials as bribe from different people) during 2015 till now, he stated.

ACE Director narrated that the AC also forwarded 52 other inquiries to the different government departments for conducting impartial inquiries against their 52 corrupt officials , besides, sending the challans of 120 other corruption cases to the concerned for further trial, in this regard.
