Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 286,574 tonnes of cargo comprising 196,709 tonnes of import cargo and 89,865 tonnes of export cargo including 4,974 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 196,709 tonnes comprised of 69,505 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15 tonnes of general cargo; 19,374 tonnes of bulk cargo: 18,778 tonnes of coal; 596 tonnes of soyabean meal and 107,815 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 89,865 tonnes comprised of 54,814 tonnes of containerised cargo; 26,655 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,350 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 9,305 tonnes of general cargo and 8,396 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,974 containers comprising of 2,936 containers import and 2,038 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,376 of 20’s and 745 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 35 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,043 of 20’s and 226 of 40’s loaded containers while 149 of 20’s and 197 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eleven ships namely APL Seattle, Stadt Marburg, Fowairet, Corvette, Pamisos, Yasa Aysen, AS Omaria, Fairchem Bridge, Falcon Grace, Kiran America and Ru Yi Song carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, coal and iron powder respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were twelve vessels viz. Corvette, ER Helgoland, Hanjin Scarlet, Northern Power, MT Karachi, NCC Rabigh, Oriental Acacia, Analipsi Lady, Osam Jumbo-5, Sharif Pioneer, Tabernacle Prince and Bofors carrying containers, oil tankers, tugs, cement and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Kota Kasturi and Hanjin Scarlet carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Oriental Acacia carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday.

There were four vessels viz. ACX Crystal, Covdet-A, Fairchem Maverick and Chang Hong Hang Hai carrying containers, chemical, oil tanker and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz. Commodore, OOCL California, Intrepid Republic, Alpine Minute and Dynamic Ocean-27 carrying containers, chemical, mogas and soyabean meal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.

A cargo volume of 151,332 tonnes comprising 86,628 tonnes of import cargo and 64,704 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,066 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 86,628 tonnes includes 49,850 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,115 tonnes of edible oil; 11,981 tonnes of canola and 17,682 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 64,704 tonnes includes 18,000 tonnes of cement and 46,704 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were six ships namely CV ACX Crystal, CV MSC Anchorage, CV Bux Contact, MT Polar Cod, MT Bright Dawn and MT Bon Atlantico with containers, diesel oil and edible oil sailed out sea on Monday morning.

A total number of ten vessels viz. CV ACX Crystal, CV MSC Anchorage, CV Bux Contact, Alam Murni, MV Annogret, Silver Navigation, Polar Cod, Exquisit, Bright Dawn and Bon Atlantiko currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement general cargo, canola, diesel oil, gas and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as six ships namely MSC Dalma, Chriso Pigi Lady, Gunhide Kirkik, Euro Sea, MT Lahore, Bunga Akasia and Songa Falcon carrying containers, gas oil, furnace oil and edible oil respectively at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday. There was one vessel carrying general cargo took berth at Multi Purpose Terminal on Sunday. There are four ships namely CV MSC Dalma, MT Banga Akasia, MT Euro Sea and MT Songa Falcon carrying containers, furnace oil and edible oil respectively due to arrive on Monday.
