FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in smuggled cigarettes case involving Rs 1.585 million.
As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation following information conducted a raid near Jhumra Road, Faisalabad and recovered cigarettes.
The team asked the owner of the cigarettes named Mohammad Amjad to show documents regarding legal import of the items but he could not produce any documents. Therefore, the officials seized the goods under customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
Now, Additional Collector Beelam issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89 of the Custom Act, 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why the seized goods should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.
However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing i.e. October 10, 2016. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
