ADC Beelam orders to impound Toyota Hilux Surf

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) while deciding a case of non-duty paid Toyota Hilux.

As per details, a team of Faisalabad ASO with the coordination of CIA police staff intercepted a Toyota Hilux Surf bearing Registration No. LRJ-5743 model 1998 and impounded the vehicle under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969. The officials forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

However, no one appeared to defend the case from respondent side and no reply was submitted before the Customs Adjudication. While Inspector Safdar appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the impounded vehicle fell under the ambit of Section 2(s) of the Customs Act, 1969.

Therefore, Additional Collector Beelam has issued ONO in favour of the Customs ASO Faisalabad and ordered to impound the Toyota Hilux Surf under Section 156(1) 89(i) of the Customs Act, 1969.
