FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in smuggled raw cotton and aluminium sheets case involving Rs 1.585 million.
As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation following credible information conducted a raid and recovered raw cotton and aluminium sheets. The officials asked the owner named Muhammad Fazal to show documents regarding legal import of the smuggled goods but he could not produce the same.
Therefore, the officials seized the goods under customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
Now, Additional Collector Beelam issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156 (1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act, 1969 and called upon the accused to show cause as to why the said items should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.
However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
