LAHORE: The authorities at the Pakistan Customs Land Freight Unit Wagha have warned the staff against unauthorised absence from their duties.

Sources said that the authorities have observed that some officials were absent from their duties at the Passenger Facilitation Centre Wagha when Additional Collector Sadia Muneeb and Deputy Collector Tauqeer Dar paid a visit there.

After the observation, the authorities concerned have issued a warning to the absent staff instead of taking any strong action.

Source said that the PFC is a crucial department that handled all passengers travelling to India or into Pakistan.

At the PFC, Pakistan Customs’ staff play an important role in controlling the flow of prohibited items and smuggling, so absence of staff at such a sensitive place is not tolerable, source said.

Authorities have issued a notice regarding absence of staff and warned that non-compilers would be summoned back at the Customs Headquarters in the future.
