ADC Saima Aftab issued notice to suspects in non-duty paid tuck’s case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Saima Aftab served show cause notices on two accused persons through the Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation allegedly involved in Mazda Mini Truck smuggling case.

As per details, the collector issued notice to Shah Mehmood and Mohammed Majid who in the said case. The Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounded the truck bearing Registration No. LZJ – 6381, after the driver failed to show document regarding the legal import of the truck.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to Shah Mehmood and Mohammed Majeed on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. Both accused were also called upon to show cause as to why the impounded vehicle should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of law. The duty and taxes that are involved in the case has been estimated at Rs 1.6 million.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused persons to file their replies by given time, which is also last date of hearing. The case of truck might be decided in the next hearing, sources informed.
