Additional Collector Adjudication Imran Chaudhary issues show cause to owner of NDP vehicle

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Imran Chaudhery issued a show cause notice against unknown owner of NDP Toyota Vitz car and ordered him to provide evidence against the vehicle otherwise case will be decided ex-parte.

Additional Collector Imran Chaudhary told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Customs Preventive received credible information that a non-duty paid Toyota Vitz car bearing registration no.LF-221 ICT, chassis no. SCP 10-0131039 model 2004 is smuggled one and is plying in the jurisdiction of Islamabad.

He said that in light of said information a raiding team comprising the Preventive staff was constituted, which established a check post near Golra Chowk Islamabad and intercepted the said vehicle which was coming from Rawalpindi side. The driver of the vehicle fled away from the scene whereas the vehicle was detained under section of 17 of Customs Act 1969.

The Additional Collector told that the said vehicle was referred to FSL. Police HQ Islamabad vide letter C.No V-Cus(P)Det/22/2018/385.

The report confirmed that chassis number is same and not tempered as well as not cut and weld. He added that Deputy Collector Islamabad Dry Port confirmed that no import record of said vehicle was found.

Additional Collector told that Adjudication department have issued show cause notice against the unknown possessors of Toyota Vitz car, he added if no one provide evidence within 10 days the case will be finalized on the available evidences.
