ADC AFU Nisar asks airline shed holders to facilitate importers, exporters

ISLAMABAD: Additional Collector Nisar Ahmad Phularwan asked airline shed holders to facilitate importers and exporters at new Islamabad Airport.

Talking with airline cargo companies like Gerry’s, SWAPs, PIA, Royal Airport Service etc, he said that the meeting was held to understand the basic issues faced by all stakeholders working at AFU cargo. He added that due to shifting from old airport to new Islamabad airport, revenue collection is suffering immensely.

He said that Civil Aviation is just focusing on air traffic while for the customs department the passenger terminal and Air Freight Unit (AFU) are equally important. Nisar told that he struggled hard to open the National Bank of Pakistan’s branch at NIIA.

During the meeting, importers apprised their grievances against airline cargo companies. They said that loaders are provided by the cargo companies for importers.

The importers proposed Customs department during the meeting that bank timing should be matched with customs official timing and NBP must install ATM machine at AFU terminal of NIIA.
