Additional Collector Asma Hameed issues notice to owner of smuggled goods

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in case of non-duty paid contraband items worth Rs82,43,350 .

Sources told Customs Today that ASO Faisalabad has seized contraband items near Saddar Bypass Jhang Road. The items were seized on the information of Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig and under the supervision of Superintendent Ghulam Jaffar according to Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Custom Act 1969.

The ASO team seized items included almond 20650 kilograms, plum 3000 kilograms and raisins 200 kilograms. Later the seizure report was submitted to the adjudication department for further proceedings.

Now the additional collector issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The adjudication authority also directed Customs ASO Superintendent Ghulam Jaffar to attend the hearing on scheduled date along with relevant record
