Additional Collector Asma Hameed issues show cause notice to owner of NDP crockery

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to owner of non-duty paid foreign origin plastic crockery made in Iran which was brought into country without payment of duty and taxes.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat received information about the smuggling of goods. He constituted a team under the supervision of Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal to foil the smuggling bid. The FIU team intercepted a trailer bearing registration number: TLR-604 near Moosa khail Mianwali and recovers plastic crockery and glassware 3000 kilograms.

The owner of the vehicle failed to produce any relevant legal documents regarding transportation and import of the crockery.

Therefore, the officials impounded items under the customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now Additional Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to the accused person namely Zaheer Khan son Muhammad Khalid on violation of Section 2(S) read with SRO No 566(1)/2005 of the Customs Act 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why impounded goods is not fell under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing on 27-3-2019. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective of case.
