Additional Collector Asma issues notice to owner of smuggled goods

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Asma Hameed issued a show cause notice to owner of smuggled goods worth Rs 16.4 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Zaheer Ahmed following information formed a team to conduct a raid. The team of ASO Sargodha intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration no: FDS-18-1844 near Bhera Interchange Motorway raided near Bhera Interchange Motorway and recovered foreign origin tyres with tubes made in China, white zeera made in India and fitting accessories made in China.

The ASO team asked the owner who was identified as Nahid Shahid son of Abdul Ghafar to produce documents regarding the legal possession of the items, but he failed to provide any relevant documents. The ASO team impounded the items and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.

Now Additional Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to the accused person Nahid Shahid son of Abdul Ghafar on the violation of Section 2(S) read with SRO No 566(1) 2005 of the Customs Act 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why impounded goods do not fell under aforementioned provisions of the law.
