Additional Collector Beelam issues notice in Toyota Land Cruiser’ case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued show cause notice to a suspect allegedly involved in smuggling of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado worth Rs 1.297 million.

Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounded the foreign origin vehicle bearing Registration No. LWC- 4034 during an intelligence based operation near Model Bazar Jhang Road, Faisalabad.

During the checking of vehicles, the Customs Intelligence team intercepted the vehicle and its owner introduced himself as Muhammad Irfan. On demand, he could not produce documents regarding the legal import of the vehicle. The customs intelligence officials impounded the vehicle and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file on next hearing i.e. November 22, 2016.

Meanwhile, Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has also issued a show cause notice to the owner of a non-duty paid Toyota Vitz car bearing Registration No. ZH-753. The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) impounded the above said vehicle during an operation near Jhang Road.

According to details, the ASO team intercepted the vehicle for checking and asked the owner named Aftab Ahmed to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he failed to produce the same.

Therefore, the officials impounded the car and forward the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action against the suspect. Now, the authority has issued notices to accused persons on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969.
