Additional Collector Beelam issues notice to alleged smuggler of mobile phones

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in a non-duty paid mobile phone case involving Rs2.28 million customs duty.

As per the details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation following information impounded a vehicle and recovered mobile phone about 1530 in number near hurt Wala Toll Plaza.

The team asked the driver of the vehicle named Hassan Munir to show documents regarding legal import of the cell phones but he could not produce the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the mobile phones under the Customs laws and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file a reply on the next date of hearing .The seizing agency has also been directed to file a reply in the case.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
