Additional Collector Beelam issues notice to suspect involved in smuggling

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to suspect involved in smuggling of non-duty paid Milano cigarettes and used Toyota car.

According to the details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation following information intercepted a used a Toyota car bearing registration no. FDM-4347 near Jhumra Road. During search the customs team recovered different brands of Milano cigarettes.

The team asked the driver of the vehicle named Muhammad Zareen Khan to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle and goods but he remained failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession and transportation of the non duty paid cigarettes and vehicles.

Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle and goods under the customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action. Now, Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act. 1969.

However, the adjudication has directed the suspect to file a reply on the next date of hearing .The seizing agency has also been directed to file a reply in the case.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.

Meanwhile, Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to owners  of non duty paid vehicle Toyota vitz car. Sources told that Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a Toyota vitz car bearing registration number MY- 265 The ASO team asked the owners of the vehicle  who was identified as Ali Razzaq  show documents regarding legal import of Toyota vitz car   but he   failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of the above said vehicle.

Therefore, the ASO team impounded the vehicle under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
