FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam ur Ramzan has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the Anti Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Sargodha while deciding a case of non-duty paid Toyota Crown car.
As per details, a team of Sargodha ASO received information through Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad and intercepted a used Toyota Crown car bearing Registration No. LXQ-3330 near Khayam Chowk, Sargodha.
The owner of the vehicle, who was identified as Aqeel khan son of Ghias Khan r was asked to show documents regarding the legal import of the vehicle but he remained fail to produce the same. Therefore, the staff impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s), and 16, of the Customs Act, 1969.
Later, the ASO team sent its chassis for forensic test. The report clarified that present chassis number is not original as it is tempered with. The officials sent the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
However, owner, Aqeel Khan appeared to defend the case from respondent side but he remained fail to submit any written reply before the adjudication. While, Inspector Ansar Saleemi appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the impounded vehicle fell under the ambit of Section 2(s) of the Customs Act, 1969.
Therefore, Additional Collector Adjudication Beelam Ur Ramzan has issued ONO in favour of the Customs ASO Sargodha and ordered to impound the Toyota Crown car under Section 156(1) 89(i) of the Customs Act 1969.
