Additional Collector Beelam issues notice to alleged vehicle smuggler

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in a non-duty paid Toyota Premio car case involving Rs 2.086 million.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation following information intercepted a Toyota Premio bearing Registration No. A-001 near Manawala, Sheikhupura Road .

The team asked the driver of the vehicle named as Alamgir Khan, to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce the same.

Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under the customs laws and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Beelam issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why the impounded vehicle should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file a reply on the next date of hearing i.e. October 9, 2016. The seizing agency has also been directed to file a reply in the case.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
