Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan summons suspects involved in smuggling case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to suspects allegedly involved in smuggling of old and used machinery involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 1,163,812.

Sources told Customs Today that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO Faisalabad intercepted a container bearing registration No SEGU -428883-0 loaded with foreign origin old and used machinery and some new items at the main gate of the dry port Faisalabad.

That consignment was cleared through mis-declaration and with the help of one superintendent of and two examiners who are also found involved in clearance of these consignments.

The customs staff impounded the consignment and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication after making a seizure report. Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan issued notices to accused persons on the violation of section hit by of the import policy order 2016.

However, the adjudication has directed them to file their replies. that is also last date of hearing 10-11-2016. The seizing agency has been directed to file their replies in their respective cases.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Import Deputy Collector Pirzada Muhammad Omar qasmi to attend the hearing on the schedule date along with relevant record.
