LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Farhat Ali has issued Order-in-Original No 98/2018 declaring seizure of goods as legal.
According to the details Superintendent Customs ASO vide contravention report no: 129/2017 dated 6.7.2017 are that pursuant to an information on 24.4.2017 the ASO staff intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser (TX Prado) bearing registration no: IDL-198 (Islamabad) near Hafeez Center Main Boulevard Gulberg Lahore.
On demand the owner who was identified as Abdul Majeed son of Swaati Bhat failed to produce any legal document regarding possession and transportation of the vehicle. Initially the above said vehicle was detained under section 2 (kk) of Customs Act, 1969 of want of import documents and the said jeep was referred to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency Lahore for examination of its chassis frame During checking of data with PRAL it was also revealed that vehicle and chassis number of above said vehicle was actually allotted to Toyota Corolla vehicle.
Despite issuing several notices to the owner of the vehicle to appear before Adjudication authority to explain its position, the owner of the vehicle failed to appear before the adjudication. The owner of the vehicle did not turn up even after laps of sufficient time. Therefore after examining the whole record Additional Collector Farhad Ali declared the seizure of non duty paid vehicle as legal and issued Order-in-Original in favour of Customs ASO.
