MULTAN: Additional Collector Adjudication Fayar Ahmed Khan issued orders for the confiscation of imported cloth and bicycle parts worth Rs 5.3 million.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation received information from the Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Islamabad on 23 July that trucks (TKH-533, TKL-998, 5217 and C-2918) would smuggle a huge quantity of goods from Quetta into Lahore.

The officials intercepted the trucks on Khanewal Road, Multan. The drivers, however, managed to flee from the scene.

The officials seized Indian-origin art silk (7,700 kg), which included 100 percent polyester dyed crinkle chiffon.

The China-origin bicycle parts (9,000 kg) contained cups and axles.

The court ordered confiscation after the importer failed to prove legality of the seized goods before the Adjudication Department.
