Additional Collector Saeed hears 14 cases filed by customs branches

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan heard 14 cases of smuggling involving millions of rupees filed by the anti-smuggling organizations (ASO) Faisalabad, Mianwali, Sargodha and Jhang’s Import and DTRE branches.

The Faisalabad ASO registered cases of smuggling against the said accused. A case was registered against Muhammad Ahsan allegedly involved in bringing imported used Toyota Surf worth Rs1.1million into the country without payment of duty and taxes.

Moreover, the adjudication heard three cases submitted by Mianwali ASO including a case of used Toyota Hilux valued Rs2.2million. Another case of Hino truck was heard against Mir Ahmed. The appeals were sent back from Lahore Tribunal. The ASO forwarded a case against Asif Khushal allegedly involved in a case of Toyota Hiace ambulance worth Rs1.4million which was brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad heard two other cases submitted by Jhang ASO against Fakhar Zaman allegedly involved in smuggling of Toyota Hliux Surf valued Rs1.3million and the second case of diesel generator carrier vehicle worth Rs1.4million was also heard against Arshad Mehmood.

The Faisalabad customs, bond branch, sent four other cases to the adjudication for legal action. The cases are against a company named M/s Pak Hino for evasion of duty and taxes. And M/s oriented coating and finishing imported acrylic emulsion falling under PCT heading is involved in the smuggling of said item which is worth Rs2.5million. M/s Asma international bond branch is involved in duty and taxes evasion of Rs1.1million against the imported raw material for ladies shoes. M/s Ashfaq Textile Mills Faisalabad brought duty free input material of 100% polyester yarn imported for utilization in the manufacturing and export of PC grey cloth valued Rs2.1million on fake documents.

The customs intelligence and investigation Faisalabad forwarded four cases of smuggling to customs adjudication involving duty and taxes worth Rs5.4million.

The additional collector adjourned the cases till next hearings.
