Additional Collector Talib issues show cause notice to owner of smuggled vehicle

MULTAN: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Talib Hussain issued a show cause notice to owner of non-duty paid Mercedez Benz which was brought into country without payment of duty and taxes.

According to the details, Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan received information about the smuggling of vehicle. He constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Umer and Inspector Haq Nawaz to foil the smuggling bid. Field Intelligence Unit of Dera Ghazi team intercepted a non-duty paid Mercedez Benz vehicle bearing registration number: LEC-5880/2002 near Taunsa Road Dera Ghazi Khan.

The owner of the vehicle was failed to produce any relevant legal documents regarding the said vehicle. Therefore, Customs staff impounded the vehicle under the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now Additional Collector  Talib Hussain has issued show cause notice to the owner Zaheer Babar on violation of Section 2(S) read with SRO No 566(1)/2005 of the Customs Act 1969 and call upon him show cause as to why impounded goods is not fell under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the owner of vehicle to submit reply in next 10 days for further proceedings.
