ISLAMABAD: Tahir Tanveer, an Inland Revenue Service officer of BS-19 and was posted as Additional Commissioner-IR, RTO-II, Lahore, has been dismissed from service over misconduct.
As per details, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) initiated disciplinary proceedings against the said officer under Efficiency and Discipline Rules, 1973, on the charge of ‘misconduct’. Tahir Tanveerwas granted 1095 days Ex-Pakistan leave, which were expired on January 31, 2015 but he did not join duty. He was directed vide FBR letter to join office, but he did not respond. However, disciplinary proceedings were started against him.
After having examined the relevant record, history of the case including failure on the part of the accused officer to join duty, the Authorized Officer found the accused officer guilty of “misconduct” as defined under Government Servants E&D Rules 1973 and recommended to the Authority for the imposition of major penalty of “Dismissal from Service” as laid down in sub clause (iv) of clause (b) of sub rule (1) of Rule 4 of the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973.
The Secretary Revenue Division, being the Authority in this case, after having considered all the aspects and material relating to the case, and the recommendations of the Authorised officer, held the accused officer guilty of “misconduct” on account of his wilful and unauthorised absence from duty and imposed major penalty of “Dismissal from Service” on Tahir Tanveer.
However, the dismissed officer has a right to appeal to the Appellate Authority under Civil Servants (Appeals) Rules, 1977 within a period of 30 days from the date of communication of this Notification, as provided under the relevant Rules.
