RAWALPINDI: Addressing grievances of business community has been the top priority of the government and our focus was to strengthen the interaction with traders ‘community. We want recommendations and suggestion to improve our ailing industry specially Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
This was stated by Adviser on Commerce, Investment and textile, Abdul Razak Dawood while talking to the trade delegation led by Malik Shahid Saleem, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) in Islamabad.
Razak Dawood added that the government is working on multilateral policy including reforms in taxation, regulatory duty and ease of doing business. He said that we are working on framing new Industrial Policy which will bridge the fundamental disconnect between the government and the private sector.
He appreciated RCCI’s efforts in promoting trade activities through exhibitions and trade events. He assured his full assistance and support from his office for resolving key issues linked with business community and also accepted RCCI invitation for All Pakistan Chambers Presidents Conference (APCPC) to be held in first week of March 2019.
RCCI president Malik Shahid Saleem on this occasion said that the Government must act proactively and set a clean direction for economy with short, medium and long term goals. Deindustrialization situation is an alarming challenge for the country, which has led to a decrease in the country’s revenue and increased the number of unemployed people, he added.
An aggressive export policy is required to meet the challenge of balance of payment. Non-conventional sectors like, pharmaceuticals, information technology and gems and jewelry must be incentivized at the earliest, he pointed out. He also gave a short summary on RCCI current and future events.
