ISLAMABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Iram M Amir has ordered seizure of two Toyota Hiace vans in two different cases for bogus chassis numbers.
The owners claimed that the vehicles had been damaged in road accidents and chassis numbers had been destroyed. Therefore, the numbers have been welded. AC Iram has rejected their claim. On the other hand Customs Intelligence officials had a view that owners have tried to prove the vehicles legal while the forensic lab report has proved that the chassis numbers have been welded. The adjudication collector has decided that tempering has been proved in the forensic report so the vehicles should be seized. In first case owners are Mahmood Akhtar and Raja Muhammad Ilyas while the owners in second case are Naveed Hussain and Muhammad Hussain.
