Adjudication ADC Saima orders to impound Hino Truck

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Saima Aftab has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation while deciding a case of non-duty paid Hino Truck.

A team of Customs Intelligence, Khushab, received information through Additional Director Azmat Tahira and intercepted a used Hino Truck car bearing Registration No. SEA-779 near Sargodha Road, Chowk Chak Jumra, Faisalabad.

The driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Asif Khan, was asked to show documents regarding the legal import of the vehicle but he remained fail to produce any import document. Therefore, the staff impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s), and 16, of the Customs Act, 1969.

Later, the Faisalabad Intelligence team sent its chassis for forensic test. The report clarified that present chassis number is not original as it is tempered with. The officials sent the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

However, no one appeared to defend the case from respondent side and no any written reply was submitted before the adjudication. While, Senior Intelligence Officer Naseer Ahmad appeared from the Prosecution side and asserted that the seized vehicle fell under the ambit of Section 2(s) of the Customs Act, 1969.

Therefore, Additional Collector Adjudication Saima Aftab has issued ONO in favour of the Customs Intelligence and ordered to impound the truck under Section 156(1) 89(i) of the Customs Act.
