In pursuance of information, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation staff intercepted a Toyota Mark-X bearing Registration No AAL-757, Quetta near Eden Valley, 208 Chak Road, Faisalabad. The data of the said registration was not found on online computer record of the Motor Registration Authority of Quetta.

The occupant of the vehicle was asked to show documents regarding the legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce any evidence in this regard.

Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle considering it smuggled one as it was registered against fake documents. The officials took the vehicle into customs under Section 156(1) 89. Later the case was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

The adjudication issued notice to accused person on the violation of Section 16 with the Section 2 (S) of the Customs Act, 1969. The accused was called upon to show cause as to why the seized item should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused party to file their replies on next hearing in order to defend the allegation of using a car, which was allegedly brought into country through illegal routes evading the leviable duty/taxes.
