Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir orders to impound smuggled truck

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed ordered to impound the Hino Ranger Truck after it proved non-duty paid and tempered with.

As per details, the Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation had taken a truck bearing Registration No. SEB-146 into its custody as the owner, Wali Jan failed to provide any customs clearance documents but produced a registration book issued by Zhob Excise and Taxation.

Later, the vehicle was sent for forensic examination where cut or welding spots were found on chassis of the vehicle.

The case was forwarded to adjudication along with forensic report claiming that smuggled vehicle is not only a loss to national exchequer but also a security threat.

Customs Intelligence Officer Farzand Ali represented the department in the case, while no one appeared from respondent’s side to defend the allegations.

Therefore, Collector Raja Tahir Majeed in light of stated fact, declared the confiscation of Hino Ranger Truck lawful under Clause 89(i) of Section 156(1) of the Custom Act, 1969.
