Adjudication Collector orders to impound truck

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed while deciding the case has ordered to impound a truck as the accused failed to provide evidence regarding the payment of duty/taxes.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation had impounded a Hino Ranger Truck bearing Registration No. TKA-450 under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89 and 178 of the Custom Act, 1969 as the accused person, Nisar Muhammad, failed to produce any documents showing legal import of the vehicle.

Later, the case was forwarded to Customs Adjudication where Intelligence Officer Muhammad Saleem represented the department, while Muhammad Azam appeared from the side of respondents and pleaded the court to release the seized truck on payment of duty/taxes.

However, the accused persons failed to prove the legal import of the vehicle; therefore, Collector Raja Tahir declared the confiscation of truck lawful in terms of Section 156(1) 90 of Custom Act, 1969.
